BOHOKA SRHR PROJECT

Anti-teenage Pregnancy Campaign is a part of BOHOKA, A SRHR Project that seeks to address problems related to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights among teens and adolescents. This campagn is being implemented in Burera districts' secondary schools to reduce the number of young girls becoming mothers before maturity. In 2022 we Visited G.S Nyabizi and G.S Rutovu, boths schools from Kinyababa sector.

COMMUNITY HEALTH AWARENES COMPETITION

Community Health Awareness Competition(CHAC) is an annual sport-based, community-oriented program organized by YESI Rwanda along with other partners. The CHAC 2022 had objective of increasing community knowledge about NCDs especially obesity, diabetes and hypertension. With the partnership with Kinyababa Health Center people received screening and counseling about NCDs.

This campaign used inter-cells football competition in which all cells of Kinyababa sector were represented. The tournament was organized into Straight Round Robin format in which the team with best cumulative points was counted as winner. Bugamba cell emerged as the champions as presented below.

Before each game a message of the day covering messages about NCDs were circulated via WhatsApp groups in Kinyababa sector and also presented at the football ground during the closing ceremony.

The campaign was coupled with a 2-day screening of community for blood sugar, blood pressure along with their body mass index (BMI). Eligible people were people above 35 years for female and 40 years for males. On 6^th September 2022, volunteers from YESI Rwanda received a single day training by Kinyababa Health Center to equip them with the current RBC’s policy to screening and managing of NCDs. The number of people screened was about 250!
